The first quilt is the Handy Andy block and I chose it because it used tons of half square triangles. I am a scrap saver, and all those hst were made from the triangles I cut off when joining strips for binding. I did go to my stash for the red sashing and backing. It still needs binding and I think I'll stick with the mix of reds. The border is strips from my box of strip pieces too big to toss, and I didn't size them other than for length and straighten the edge.

The next picture is Chinese Coins, made from the rest of the extra long strip of piano keys from the Handy Andy quilt. I got carried away! The sashing was scrap strips too, but the backing was stash chosen.

I love red - can you tell?! LOL! Thanks for looking!

Beautiful!! I love the chinese coins quilt. Can you give me a little rundown on how it's made? How many strips, how long/wide, etc?

    Thanks!

Beautiful! I use a lot of red, too. It is my DH's favorite color.

like those. I love to see scrap quilts, but can't seem to do them myself. I think my mind tries too hard. I love that your mind frees you enough!

The coin strips are 4 inches wide and the strips are about 4 feet long. I didn't make the coins the same width, just pulled whatever size came out of the box, with half a nod to alternating light and dark colours. Super easy.

I did another Chinese Coins a few years ago and made my strips of coins in the same colour story - a strip of blues, a strip of reds and so on. Those coins were the same size.
