When I first saw it my instinct said black, too! Maybe you could try a black Marbles or Fusions. Neither is a startling black and would soften your view of black.
Right now I'm using HST left over from a friend's project as my L&E-just makes a lot of sense to sew 2 pieces of fabric together, doesn't it?

Red inner and blue outer. Yellow inner and green outer. Really, your options are endless. What a neat quilt this will be.

I would skip a border altogether and just bind it in black. That would outline it and say "finished" without having the overpowering black you are scared of. I have a gal at my lqs that I have spirited debates with about my choice vs her choice for colors. It's a hoot!

Wow, just looking at your quilt makes me want to go take a nap! I admire your patience. I'd do 2 borders, one black and one red!

Well just whatever color you decide my friend, you have so many to choose from there, and any color would work on that quilt. Love it. A lot of time has been spent on cutting and sewing on that darling.

It is certainly going to be beautiful whatever you decide. I am a big fan of black, but any of those other bright colours would be good too.

Please keep us updated - I would love to see what you decide to do.

Yes, I was thinking black or maroon with a lighter, brighter narrow inner border. Pop! Pop!
