    Your daughter-in -law is right!! It will be very special. I think it's great. We all started out like that. Remember never sew when your tired. I always make way to many mistakes when I'm tired. Good luck. Make sure to show us the finished product!!! Happy quilting.

    Slowly but surely and you will get there. Those points will become perfect with practice. As for the machine causing you trouble, is it the tension? I had similar problems when using a very old Singer machine but after much fiddling, it was the tension that was causing trouble and I managed to sort the problem out.
