Do you know why they picked it?

If it were me, I'd pick it, too! It's beautiful - the color and fabric patterns make you want to look and look at it. And it's a traditional type of quilt. Looks like your piecing skills are just fine - I couldn't see the quilting, but then, I couldn't see any flaws at all.
