Peabee, these were both quilted with Superior Threads King Tut. It's a 40wt cotton, I love the look of it but on my machine it's a bit of a pain to use. But I will use any good quality thread, cotton or poly, I love them both. I tend to use more poly than cotton though. Both So Fine and OMNI (both are by Superior Threads) are poly that look and feel just like cotton, but they're stronger. So Fine is a lightweight thread, OMNI is heavy... and I LOVE it!
I am not a fan of 100% cotton batting. Wool is my personal favorite, with a poly/cotton blend being next. Cotton is flat and shows no quilting definition. I like to see the quilting.
Neither of these quilts are stiff at all, but this isn't really super dense quilting either. Cotton does tend to get stiff with heavy quilting... wool will continue to drape beautifully.
