I found this one for $35. After I got it home it sat in my dining room for about a month. Everyone that looked at it said uh-huh, no way, Im not carrying that thing up those stairs! lol. So I thought, you know what, I dont use my dining room anyway, there are just 2 of us here and I have a table in my kitchen. So I took the kitchen table and dining room chairs and put them in the garage and moved the dining room table and the china hutch into the kitchen. Then brought all my things from upstairs and put them in my new sewing room. I love my new desk, its big, has alot of drawers and has a slider that pulls out where I store whatever machine Im not using. I think it is supposed to pull out and lift up but I cant get it to lift. Anyway, heres my new to me desk and my sewing room.
I used to have a sewing machine like yours a "hundred" years ago. Think my daughter has it now.

Love your sewing room! All the antiques and things on the wall make it very cozy. My dad had a desk with that lift thingie--it was for a typewriter, but I don't think I'd trust it with my sewing machine.

I hope that's not a computerized machine laying on it's side? Not a good idea.

Dear Luvs2quilt, I love your new sewing room! I think you will love having that desk in front of those windows so you can see outside as you quilt. I am set up the same way and I love to see outside, especially when I am running an embroidery project! By the way green Hawaiian Punch is one of my favorites too!

I have a desk almost identical to yours. The typewriter slideout is spring loaded. You pull it straight out and lift slightly and it will go right into place and be almost at the level of the desk top. I love my desk. And you're right, it weighs a ton. No way would I ever take it upstairs!
