Watch for leaking oil after any maintenance when machine is on its side.

you certainly have a cozy sewing room now - great idea to move it downstairs. You'll have to keep it neat if it's in view of anyone that may drop by for a visit LOL

Where do you look for the #401 on the machine. I am supposed to be getting an old Singer from a friend & would really like to know.

Just want to complement you on your room. It is very well organized, neat, and comfy. I've given up on my sewing room until after Christmas. I hope mine looks as good as yours. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Thank you for all the great compliments everyone! I didnt even think about laying the machine down on its side  I have it out now and Ill be sure to check it before I use it. LibbyB, the canning jar has a number 2 on the bottom, I didnt even know it was there. Greeter Eva, if you look on the front of the machine theres a gold badge and under that is the model that has the number on it. I "think" the 401 has cams with it? It almost always looks like this, since its smack dab between the kitchen and front room and I dont want anyone to see it messy. Im one of those I cant work on a project unless the housework is done first people.
