Stitch in the ditch could be pretty cool looking it wouldnt take away any of the unique look of the batiks and depending on the batting could give a nice look. Please share with us what you decide it is a wonderful quilt.

I saw a colorful quilt similar to this one yesterday at a shop, they quilted with a variegated thread that really worked well with all the bright blocks and in the black areas. I vote for a bright variegated.

I would use a primary color variegated thread. I would "Dwirl" the quilt. On one of my yahoo groups, the moderator did a video of "Dwirling" on a string quilt. I used it on a table topper and runner.
Here's the link to Angie's video

Here are pics of my attempt at dwirling.

I know you didn't mention you had a black thread but with all that color, the black would really show up without taking away from the beauty of the quilt. As to quilting pattern, I'm loss on what to do. Its such a beautiful quilt. I don't see a border, does it have one, not that it needs it mind you?

Love the bright colors on this quilt. Have you thought about quilting with a variegated thread?

The quilt is so vibrant, and I would also use variegated thread.

How about the Big Stitch? I have liked that on repeated blocks and even repeating colors. I did one with Big Stitch alternating with small, and liked that also. Love the colors! Mariah

My choice for thread would be variegated or black. Quilting - not a clue!

What a striking quilt. I don't know what to recommend for quilting, but I think I would definitely use a variegated rayon thread, as IMHO it gives the quilting a certain shine and sheen. She's one lucky sister.
