This one presented a whole bunch of firsts - first time using triangles, first time using cornerstones, first time attempting free hand quilting...sorta. I don't have a FM foot, so the stars were done free-ish hand with a walking foot and lots of turning, stuffing and fluffing. LOL The backing is fleece, with no batting, and I first tried a "self binding" (another first, there!)...I will never try that again with fleece. I did a whole lot of frog stitching there...I ended up doing the purple binding, attaching it on the back first with a dec stitch on front...another first! You can see the quilting better on the back, I used a variegated blue thread - don't mind the flares of light...it must have picked up some glitter from the basement floor...DD's Barbie "glitterizer" thing is down there...

I brought it up to take pictures and DS was so upset when I took it back down to wash. It needed to be washed before I give it to him because of all of the starch and stuff I used...and, well, you know babies, *everything* goes in the mouth!

If these are so many firsts for you then your future looks very bright indeed. It can be really scary using new techniques. You are brave and talented ( and your avatar is adorable, too!)

Ah thank you. :) That is my sweet boy, the recipient of this quilt. He was just fascinated by all of the bright colours. He spends a lot of time quilting with me. I have his play pen set up in my sewing space, and he comes fabric shopping with me regularly. He loves the fabric store - so many colours and stuff to look at!
