I was just reveiwing my posts and see that I didn't see some of the questions on my bag before. I'm sorry. For some strange reason, the post shows up 4 times on my list. Anyway, I didn't see the questions, so will answer them now. I made my own pattern; it is piping and it's not hard to put on (I use a zipper foot); it is 16"w x 11" high. I'm sorry it has taken so long to answer these.

Did you use a lot of interfacing and padding or just straight fabric?

I have a pattern now for a computer messenger bag and it calls for canvas interfacing, padding, and fleece. It's driving me crazy tryting to figure out what each part is for. And what I can substitute from my stash.

That's a lot. I use light or med. interfacing on the lining and fusible batting on the outside pieces. For the pockets I use either warm & natural batting or flannel. The quilting helps it stand up.
