I am not fond of square quilts either although my quilting buddy thinks they are great because the quilt wears more evenly as it is never in the same position when being used. I think the way you made it rectangular is perfect and looks good.

I'm making this quilt again for a friend. She loved one of my fabrics so I am happy that I can put it front and center. This time I plan to add extra squares to the sides of the quilt (top to bottom) to make it a rectangle. I think I'm going to stick with the large center square but I'll also put coordinating squares, 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. Or do you think I should make the center fabric even bigger, basically doubled?
I haven't begun to cut yet so I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

Very pretty quilt! Love all the colors. The white looks great. For some reason, I always lean towards dark colors or black, but this makes me what to try white - get out of my comfort zone a little.
