I love you GFG quilt but know how much work it is as I am doing one somewhat similar to one my mom made way back in '30's. Lots of handwork. I bet your grandson loves his quilt. Anything made from something of a loved one is not morbid. I am just glad that more folks are lerning to care about things like that! Thanks so much for posting your pictures.

Your Grandmothers garden quilt is lovely, and GS quilt is fun.
I think that making a quilt from a lost loved one's clothes isn't morbid at all. Having lost someone myself I think it is a way of keeping a "connection" with the Love they represented. You were very generous to make a quilt and pillows for your friend and her children. You are a good friend to her and I'm sure that she will remember your gift always.
I find that quilters are not only smart but compassionate to others pain and try to help others heal thru their sewing machines. You all are awesome!!
Take care and can't wait to see more of your work.

I'm doing a GFG now, concurrently with other projects - I work on it when I'm away from home and need a little hand work to keep busy. I'll be lucky to finish it in 10 years!
I inherited a GFG from a great-great aunt that I used until it literally fell apart. It was the first quilt I ever came into contact with, and I'm doing one of my own to 'replace' the vintage one. I love how the classic patterns have that kind of enduring impact.

Great Grandma's Flower Garden quilt! I did one too for my first quilt. I picked it because at the time I didn't have a sewing machine. I have since made another one. Both were king sized. I think since I have done two I won't have to do another one in my life time.
Love your cow.
