I agree Pam...I think it will look better to remove that strip too. Looks like your quilting is going well to me!

I find stippling very difficult myself. Just not enough practicing, I guess. But your feathers look nice. Keep going. I think you'll like it just fine in the end.

I'll keep going as soon as my thread quits breaking! I've been working on adjusting it and was able to do all the feathers from the center out and it broke. I did the stippling that is shown before it broke again.

The top AND the bobbin have broken. Yes, I'm going through all the usual things to get it fixed.

I just don't know. The more I do, the more I think that I'm just ruining it. I think I will take it off the frame and put it away for now.

I am not good enough on the long arm to do this quilt. I could do a whole lot better if I hand quilted it.

Can you phone your machine dealer and ask what thread they recommend. When I ran into a mess trying to FMQ, I was told that thread can be a very touchy issue and you need to do some practice and testing to find out what threads will work and then stick to that brand. Sounds like a major pain to me especially when it works fine for awhile and then suddenly throws a hissy on me. Good luck.

Don't give up on it Pam. I just bet you are super picky about it. I can't say that I blame you, its such a lovely quilt. Do try to figure out the thread problem or you won't be doing ANY quilting on the machine and that would be a waste....you are sooo talented. Practice a little bit more, then just relax and do it. You'll see, it will turn out beautiful!

My thread is doing ok, the quilting isn't. I think I need to try Sharon Schamber's method of quilting. She uses foam pads and rice bags to weight down the bed for more control. That is a lot of my problem. The long arm moves so smoothly, and fast, that one tiny movement on my part gets my sewing line totally out of whack.

I also ordered micro-handles that should be here any day so that my hands are closer to the work.
