The neatest thing about this is that some 6th grader will think back on this when he/she grows up, and perhaps talk about it on a forum like this and decide to try to make one, and quilting lives through another generation. Nice job!

Just a suggestion that popped into my little head -- instead of using the muslin to "write" the name, how about using chenille? It would all fuzz up and really look dimensional. You can buy the chenille already prepared to sew to your project by the yard and in several different colors. Try fabriccafe.com to see what I mean....

I was thinking the same thing about the chenille sewjoyce. It is sold by the inch I think at the quilt stores/fabric stores in many colors.
I think your little hanging should be called a "Name Plate Quilt". Granted that is not very original, but it discribes it while naming it.
I think you are such a perfect hubby to your little teacher wife. I can just imagine how you two must get on. LoL!
