    personally, I like the softness of number 1, but they all work. Quilt is beautiful

    Thanks all for your votes. I went with 1.5: #1, but making the blue border a little wider. I'm quilting it now ... will post a picture when it's finished.

    You all were right, once I got the border on with some blue in it, I was much happier with the blue in the 9-patches.

    I like #2, the thicker blue border seems like it would make the blue pop in the other areas of the quilt

    I think the first one works the best. Dunno how you're going to decide with all this conflicting advice!! Looking forward to the photos of it finished.

    I like 2, but would make the inside blue border narrower, not a lot narrower, but maybe reduce it by 1/4 to 1/3.

    It's finished! Thanks everyone for your opinions on the borders. I'm really happy with the final product, including the blue! The back is flannel. I quilted with some SIDT, some straight line machine quilting, and some FMQ.
