I like 1 and 2. Would use them both. One for sides and one for top and bottom. Very nice

Nice quilt. Option #1 is my favorite, second would be #4.

I always like to play with even more options, so this is what I thought, what if you used randomly, sparsely, some black little inset squares mixed with what you have in the pic? That way it pulls in the black from the borders but still blends with the top while adding a bit of variety to the little squares.

Thank you all for your comments! Wow so many! I really am leaning toward using the dark brown as a binding and using the self-border on the block as the border. DH usually has a good eye, he IS a man, and it's for a man, so maybe I should listen and not over think it too much! I'll keep you all posted. And thanks! I'll probably use some of these borders in other quilts.
