Now that's my kind of quilter.
Is that all appliqued or pieced? Or a combo?
How brilliant was she...and so innovative to come up with what is clearly a unique piece of work.

eta: You know, the more I look at it, I see sort of the bones of a Mariner's Compass with some really, really interesting coloring. I could see how it could be pieced (even paper-pieced) with some extra lines to create a leaded (white fabric) effect. I'm off to play in EQ.

Well, Cheryl just today posted this link showing how to do an easy zig-zag, so figuring out that part is done: ;-)

This quilt was needle turn and entirely hand pieced/quilted with beautiful, even stitches. The owner thought that this particular one had been done by her husband's great-grandmother around 1925.
