I have Mariner's Compass Block Factory from Quilt Pro and they have 20 point blocks. One of them is exactly like the small center of this block and you can make it any size you want. You might want to start with that program and see if any of the other 20 point blocks can be revised to meet your needs. You can't alter the blocks in the program, but you could change them after you've printed out the paper pieces.

    Hope this helps!

the diamond blocks look just like the ones on fons and porter this morning; I think it was bethleham star; they did them w/strip piecing 2 1/4 stips and then finding the 45 angle and cutting and sewing together. I am checking it out today because it's supposed to be on thier site.

I agree, it is a style of Mariners compass and being a hand piecer I disagree that it would have to be paper pieced. Although that is one method you could do. How big are each of the squares overall?

Sally Collins has out a new book on drafting and she does five and 10 divisions. She teaches you how to us the compass and how to use your rulers accurately. When it comes to drafting, she is a great person for drawing and sewing accurately
