This is a wall hanging for my parents 40th anniversary. It is my first attempt at quilting; it is all hand sewn. The blocks and sashing are done. The black border still needs to be sewn on but I have layed it out to get an idea of what it will look like.

The silhoutte will be appliqued (fused) in the center. It is my parents walking on their wedding day.

    Now for my questions:
1)Do you think I need to add any other elements to the top in black to help balance out the silhouette? If so, another applique or perhaps embroider their wedding date...

2)Or does the silhouette need to be bigger?

    3) Black or red binding?

    THANKS MUCH!

My mom is such a wonderful quilter it is so hard for me not to ask HER for advice!

Oh! that is so pretty and special. I would make the silhouette a little bigger unless you already have it in place. it looks great!

I haven't fused the silhouette yet so I can still change things - make things bigger etc....

I like it the way it is. I would use a black binding. Great job!

Love the silhouette just the way it is! Would use black binding. Just a thought about the date, how about doing it in one of the lower corners. This is just a beautiful hanging.

the silhouette is fine - as for dates...
put the wedding date on the left and this year's anniversary on the right... since it's a gift for this year's anniversary 8)

I like it exactly like it is--with a black binding. Simpler is always better in my mind. Never liked clutter. :-) The way you have it keeps the focus on what's important. It looks like they're walking right into the quilt....

I like it ... but.... what about a silhouette of Mom ( just her head in profile) today looking towards the center silhouette and one of your Dad looking back from the other end.

I do head silhouettes for decorations at the Kindergarten Grads and they are just so special.
