Ok this is what I got so far with duckies. If I go 5 wide. It'll be to short so I tried 3 wide and maybe yellow around the whole thing? Is this gonna be big enough for a baby blanket?

It's going to be cute! How big are your squares? I can't tell from the picture. If you are worried about it being too narrow, could you add 1 more square and do 4x4? You can always add a border or two, or sashing to help it get to the desired size. I've made them small say 30-36 wide. The last one I did was square and was about 45 wide.

I would go 4x4 and make it square. It looks like you have plenty to do that. It would be plenty big, I think.

I agree with adding the one more square and making it 4 x 4. If you cannot do that, then you can go 3 x 3 and then add a couple borders.
Then save the other duckies for a table runner for babys room or something.

The only problem I'm seeing is If I start with the lilac fabric. I'll end with a duckie. Will that look ok. My blocks are 8 inch squares

I think it would be find to start with a duckie and end with the lilac. What if you did a narrow yellow inner border and then a wider lilac outer border? You could make it 36"-40" wide...plenty big enough for a baby. :)
