This is a UFO from last spring I am trying to finish up. My quilting group at church does a "group" pattern each February and I wanted to finish this up before I start the next one on the 20th. My quilting skills are at beginner level and I have done a lot of Diagonal quilting, but I don't think it will work for this one. Should I outline the Flower squares, should I try to stipple in the blue frames, any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks

This is not flat because I decided to spread it out on my sewing table which is smaller than the quilt. I should have spread it on the floor in the other room, except it is much darker in there!!!

Gayle--I am so void of ideas when it comes to the quilting part--that is why I have so many tops that have never been quilted.

I just wanted to say that I think your quilt is just beautiful.

You could try a squiggle freemotion, I think that would be nice. It is fast too.

    Beautiful quilt!

I would pick a design that I liked and do it inside the floral squares, then I would do a stitch in the ditch around all the blue shapes..then a really simple long border design.

    Really pretty quilt.

Now that I've bumped this..hopefully you'll get a few more ideas.

No right or wrong. If you are a beginner. Do you own thing and be simple about it. It will be done quicker.

Wow, like the colors here ! You do nice work. Just breath and do it.. grin

I think diagonal would work fine? But if you fancy something different, why not stitch in the ditch around the outside or each blue frmae, then maybe do a cross through the middle, or echo quilt just inside each of the indder floral bits?

How would it look to lightly stipple in the blue area and outline around the flower blocks, I don't know, keep the suggestions coming...... Going diagonal across the block makes it not corner to corner through the flower block, which is why I'm not sure diagonal will work........

    Gayle,

May I make a suggestion? How about buying this book I got that helps you make these kind of decisions. It is called, "Machine Quilting Solutions", by Christine Maraccini. I tried to get into a macine quilting class here in my home town and it was full the within 2 hours the first day they opened the sign ups. So, I found out the name of the book they were using and bought it at overstock . com for less than the girls paid taking the class. It is a great start on learning quilting design and gives you ideas on how much, how decorative, and what kind of threads, needles .... everything.

I have been trying different types of stencils, patterns and tear aways that are cool to learn and use. It is as fun to go find these things/tools as it was to find fabrics and quilt patterns. Really! My next try at machine quilting will be a system called twice quilted.
