kind of like most of the others - narrow down that blue print was using two narrow borders in cream in either side - maybe 1.5 inches - then 4 inches of your blue print, then 2-2.5 inches of either the cream again or a light blue
just another opinion - but please post what you wind up with - beautiful top so far !

I not liking that fabric as your border.. I think you need to find another.. Sorry but that how I see it. the print you have has none of the warm tones used in the blocks.. If you can find a print that has some of the blues with some warm tones you have in the quilt it would be more in keeping with the quilt.

I would do two smaller inner borders - like 2" offwhite, and a 3" red - then the remaining border in the blue floral. But I personally happen to like lots of borders, as opposed to a one wide border.

In all seriousness, I really LOVE that first picture. It's almost as if the quilt is sitting within another (giant) block. It's different, yet is of the same spirit. The more I look at it, the more I like it!!! It just seems to belong. My vote is for the first one.
I see the majority, so far, disagrees with me. LOL Well, I tend to think outside the box, so am used to that. Since your sashings are all rather plain, I think a solid border would be a bit . . . well, plain. For me, the floral border brings it alive. Maybe a narrow, dark blue border, between the two . . . but I'd definitely keep that floral!

I agree with Neesie, I think that border is lovely with your quilt. Love to see the finished quilt.

I think a dark blue or a blue that reads solid (dark blue) would set off the quilt you already made with the blocks. Or use two shades of medium to dark fabrics and miter to corners to create a picture frame effect. Another idea would be to use a medium blue on two sides and a dark blue on two sides to make it look like a large attic window. It's a very pretty restful quilt.

I really like the look of the dark blue narrow border from the photoshop picture with the print outside that.
The print looks fine with that definition between it and your gorgeous center, but without the dark blue, it just looks too much like an afterthought.
Let us know what you decide!
