In our "old house" I had a clothes line like yours......loved those big wheels and the line guides are great. My DH made ours...keeps the line from sagging........Where we live now, not enough room for a good size clothes line....have a small retractable one for quick things, but nothing like taking sheets down from a line putting them on the bed...
    Fresh.......

I used to live in Yuma,AZ. I used a clothesline, a load of laundry dries in about 1 hour in the summer, even blue jeans. So it is possible. :-D

I use a clothesline nearly year round. Last month we saved
$100 on the electric bill by not using the dryer. Towels are the only items that go in the dryer.
My house didn't have wiring for the dryer until DH put it in.

I am also the dishwasher, no room in my kitchen for dishwashing machine. Since I have a septic tank, can't have one anyway; the bleach in the dishwasher soap is bad for it.

I say you got a great deal, and you will make up the cost very quickly. I had a great clothesline at our first house, made out of oak 4 x 4's that our neighbor had picked up somewhere. Our house was built on top of fill, so I had a very steep, sloped back yard, but a short distance from the house was a flat area. Because we had not trees, and neither did many of our neighbors, I had a great breeze though, so even the baby diapers were bright white and soft when I brought them in, plus they smelled so fresh. I loved hanging out our sheets because of the fresh smell. Too many trees at our next house, so no clothesline except a makeshift one between the trees, didn't use it often, not the same. Now, for some reason the apartment complex frowns on hanging clothes out our windows, so I'll just have to remember the smell of clothes fresh off the line. Enjoy.

I drive by an Amish house often and always check to see if she has wash hanging. It goes from the house to the top of the barn. Wash sure blows in the wind when it is that high up.
