That quilt is just beautiful. I would use a stencil to stipple. That helped me a lot.

Welcome to the board! I really like your quilt, it's pretty.
Probably you are thinking about meandering or meander stippling, it's the pattern often done by machine - but of course you can also do it by hand.

As far as I know hand stippling looks like this:
