Love your "new" room! Thats a really pretty area where you live also. Those houses are huge!! Are they apartments or single family houses? You must live on the end of the road...it looks like you are headed down the road from your window. I appreciate your helpers too...it was really nice of them to allow you to "share" their room..I am sure that they will not give up "title" to it. The "beauty" pose...well, unfortunately, mine do that frequently..pretty isn't it?

My cousin claims there's something called Ikea Tax - whenever you go in there, whatever it's for, you always end up spending AT LEAST 200 pounds! I do sometimes manage to avoid it but not always!

Hi sandpat, in the pic titled 05042009135.jpg The view from where I sit and sew, the houses thru the right window pane are three houses in one - you can see the three white front doors and three dormer windows on the roof. The ones on the left pane (with the green car out front) are each one house…they are four bedrooms I think, big houses, spacious downstairs but 4 bedrooms and a bathroom crammed in upstairs.
Tipton, the area where I live used to be VERY industrialised…all factories and trading estates. In fact it was rather 'rough' too. It has mostly been re-generated now, the development I am on was built in 2003, before the housing shortage hit (which now means they are building new houses and flats right on top of each other, no gardens, nor green areas, tiny tiny!), so it is quite spacious and even my two bedroom flat is generous on square footage. I had a choice of three identical flats, but this was the only one that looked out onto the open space. I am very happy here, the other residents all seem to be either DINK's (Dual Income No Kids) or young families, so it is quiet and clean and safe.

One piece of history I love : In 1911 the main anchor for the Titanic was made at nearby Hingley Foundry, and all 17 tonnes of it was pulled up the hill to Dudley by 20 shire horses, and loaded onto a train bound for Liverpool at Dudley Port station, which is the train station where I get my train to work every! I especially like this story as my Grandfather worked for Hingley's and did in fact work on the chain for that anchor.

Mary, thanks for the info. Yours does appear to be a really nice space to live. I love the story about the anchor chain..it seems that we all have some very interesting ancestors in our families if we choose to learn about them. One of mine was the first person to ride a motorcycle across the US from the East coast to the West coast...I assume he was quite the dare devil!
