This is a chinese coin I am making for a dear friend. Again hand-quilted and again large-stitched to add to (I think) the charm and purposeful wonkiness. That being said I doodled a leafy design in the one white strip and stitched it all down. My mom felt I should do the same leafy design in only one other white strip and do a simpler design in the other three. I tried a diamond pattern but I feel like it is just too much visually and not simple anymore. Should I do a different design in the alternate white sashing or just bite the bullet and keep it all the leafy design I've doodled??

I don't know what you should do, I just wanted to tell you I like your quilting. It is so nice and neat. Would like to see a picture of whole quilt.

Honestly I think it is too much with the contrast between to different designs. I would use the leafy design or something similar to it.

That's what I'm thinking. I liked how quickly it worked up but not with the other panel. Mom suggested a line design of just diagonal lines but I thought that would be too much too. Guess I'm biting the bullet and stitching many more leafs...:)

I like the straight lines to break it up. It makes the leaves "more special" since it isn't all leaves. Just my 2 cents that isn't worth much anymore.

I think it looks cool alternating. But- I love the leafy design so if you did that totally, it would look awesome.

so- how's that for confusing. :)

How about just a curvy stem with one larger and one smaller leaf? That leaf pattern is so pretty, the diamonds just take away from it. Your leaves are original, the diamonds,?, everywhere! I'd stick to original!!

I agree with Clem. The top is VERY geometric. The eye loves to see curves with geometric.
