nice pattern but not a quilt
#11
I think this is one of the age old questions .... Which came first, the pattern on the floor/building or the quilt. My family has developed a beautiful eye role because it never fails that when we are together, I discover quilt patterns in the flooring, the windows, the trim on a building or the lines in a sidewalk, tile in the bathroom and on and on. Once you get the quilting "thing" in your head, you see them everywhere. I dare not travel in the middle east or I would spend all of my time dreaming quilt patterns found in the mosaic tiles of building. Tee-Hee-Hee. I see plenty of patterns here at home just as you did, mtkoldra. What a wonderful PhD project to study the use of quilt patterns in floors of our older buildings. Another life time. I am too busy quilting at the moment!

Since starting to quilt this January, I see quilt patterns in many places. I teach after-school programs in elementary schools & as I walk the halls I pass many posted art projects. I quite often think ‘Oh, that would be a great quilt block pattern!’ I’ve taken a few pix for inspiration from them.

That is gorgeous. I was there a few years ago but didn't go inside; but got the picture of the outside (looks just like the shots in Blue Bloods)! LOL There is a glass window in a local oriental restaurant here that I took a picture of with the intent of trying to make it into a table topper; I think I could even paper piece it. I need to dig that picture out and see what I can come up with.
MtKoldra; make sure you post a picture of the one you make.
