I love it - I love the randomness of it! I do D9P all the time, and they look very much like this. But if, it's too random for you, my suggestion would be to use 3 values (light, medium dark), or 3 colors and keep their placement consistent in the original 9 patch, so when you cut them up, a more distinct pattern emerges. Just a suggestion.

Nannya54 - I knew what you were going to show us.... However, I think yours is great. I am making one and it is ALL scrappy. Did not come out the way I planned. I think chosing just a select number of colors (which you did) makes the whole quilt work. I think you did a great job. Black and white with a touch of red always looks awesome.
I just hope when I get mine together it will not be as wild as it looks now. It is for a Children's Home, so hoping some teenager will think it is not too wild. I am calling it Uncontrolled Chaos....... LOL... Enjoy your quilt. It is great.

I like it too. Busy but interesting and I think you did a great job on it. I've done the same thing; thinking it would turn out one way and, poof, it's something else.
Don't punish yourself. It's a beautiful quilt.

Thank you for posting this. It gave me ideas. I am trying to find the black and white fabrics to go with the red I purchased to make this disappearing 9-patch for my grandson. Wasn't sure whether I should go with diff fabrics of black and white or the same two. Can't wait to start it - has to be finished by Oct 16th for his 21st birthday.
