OBW= One Block Wonder There's several books by Maxine Rosenthal and Joy Pelzmann. Basically you cut 6 repeats of your patterned fabric, stack and pin together so the pattern is lined up exactly, cut into strips, then equalateral triangles (60 degrees), sew into half hexagons, sew the strips together to form the whole hexagons. You can get some totally different looking quilts from just one print fabric. They are addictive! There are lots of them on this Board. Check them out.

Now this is a fantastic idea--one gets the benefit of both the OBW blocks and the panel. I still am in love with this panel and the effect each hexagon emulates.

Gorgeous!!! Such a beautiful panel that I would have hated to cut it up, but read that you're using one of them on the back. I can't wait to see more pics as you progress with it.

I did this pattern too. When I sewed Row 1 to 2, 3 to 4, etc. everything was great. When I sewed row 1&2 to 3&4, etc. I started getting peaks and valleys. WHAT did I do wrong? I was really watched carefully so that the biased sides didn't get stretched. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated as it now in my UFO stack since I had difficulty with it.

I don't know exactly what you did wrong..if you can post a pic..we might be able to help you out though. There are a few "key" things I learned when I tried it...

    Don't wash the fabric first...
    stack and cut VERY carefully
Leave ALL the dog ears on to use as match up points
