That's what I thought, too, before Karen said it's the normal layout.... so I looked again...

So I think it's normal pink octagons, alternating with octagons that have four pink and four b&w "petals" (sort of "striped" if that makes sense). And the little squares are b&w. So the b&w "oval"-looking shapes are really squares with long triangles on two sides. (Man, wouldn't this be easier just pointing a finger lol...)

    Am I right? :D
Yes you are! How cool is that!

    :-D :-D :-D

The quilts are quite stunning Karen - I cant stop staring at the dragon one and how it's put together. Like your quilting motifs too. Havent done an octagon one - yet!!

Totally right. It really is easy! Even easier than a regular OBW because the little squares don't matter so much and you can just get to sewing!! Really love this one! I have my second one of these in my UFO's but want to get to it soon.

The transformation is what keeps me going back. I haven't done one for awhile as I had three graduation quilts to make last year and a couple baby quilts and a quilt for my mom ... it is my turn!! Just have to pick out the fabric to use next (yes, I have quite a stash of wonderful fabrics to choose from). I'm posting one of the graduation quilts here as well as I really think it is so "boy" and my son's best friend loves it.
