if already grown---my sons tell me you can not make a quilt too long- they like them long enough to tuck under their feet when snuggling---
nothing wrong with long-
and as for what you did wrong?????????what size does the pattern say it's supposed to be? it seems quite (right) from the pictures- beautiful quilt!

Check out this site. 81"x107" is recommended for a bedspread size twin quilt.

If you got it from the quilt in a day pattern book, you probably inadvertantly chose the "extra long" twin size. That is what I undertook too. It is made to have a pillow tuck. Don't rip any out! Think about the fact that it is for a boy...his toes will just barely reach the bottom by the time he's probably done growing!!
Congrats on finishing it! It looks GREAT! Inspires me to want to finish mine...only I discovered I don't have enough of the fabric to finish it. :(

I did the same thing, I ran out of the blue fabric when doing the border. I just switched it to the opposite where there was more red then blue and viola, I had enough! It was supposed to be blue red blue LOL but no one will know. Can you do something like that? I also ran out of backing but I'm using muslin and it's crazy but it almost matches the cream perfect so I lucked out with that!

My first quilt was made for a queen size bed, everything fit exactly the way I wanted it too. Lightly quilted it, and it ended fitting a full size bed just right.

It's beautiful just the way it is. Extra length will be good for a pillow tuck under as well as hang over the end of the bed longer than norm. Hubby always hangs his feet over the edge of our bed so extra length is always good for us.
