Can always use filling that can hold up to light quilting, do whatever your most comfortable with.

I think it's perfect for a little boy. An easy way to FMQ on this quilt is to make lariat or lasso loops...very easy and OK if they turn out to be different sizes...just like a rope would twist into loops naturally...go for it!!!
