    I would use a 30's fabric to keep it true to the fabrics already in it. Or a stripe or something with a real pattern to it.

    This may not matter to you, but if you add new fabric to an old quilt top you will lessen the value. Just something to think about.

    I would try to match that blue in the center blocks as best you can, first a thin white border so if you cant get it right on no one will see it and then the blue so your eye sees it but still goes to the design. Great orphan.. every orphan needs a home.

    I am not a fan of white at anytime but the 30's yes. Cram or off white then the blue. What a find , very nice.
