The Trip Around the World quilts I've seen usually start with on square in the center and go from there. The Boston Commons quilts I have seen are squares set on point with a row of about 12 squares down the center and go from there. Guess maybe this is a diamond variation of Boston Commons.

My grandmother passed away in 1982 at the age of 96, and I found some of her quilt tops in a box at my Mother's. The pattern and the fabrics look to be similar. I don't think they are feed sack, but just that age, and the holes you are seeing may be moths from the way they were stored. Mom recognized some of the fabrics in the tops I found, from her school clothes in the mid twenties. They are treasures, and I hope to finish them up one day. Hope that helps some.
