Well, Mel, if you really want to go soon, and if you've already started dilating or effacing a little bit, go ahead and take a dose of castor oil, or Magnesia of Citrate. The laxative action will start your labor, and make sure that you are (ahem) "cleaned out" for when you start pushing!
