Nice block! I too am considering a dresdan plate quilt. If you don't mind a hint I found the neatest way to make the centers actually circle shaped is to do it like a yoyo. Draw a cirlce the size u want the center to be and make a template out of poster board or nonmelting plastic, add the 1/4" seam allowance, hand sew around the circle just inside the 1/4" seam allowance, insert the template, pull the thread tight and tie off. Press w/iron. Remove template and "walla" perfect circle every time. I collect all kinds of circles from lids, cd's, etc. they're everywhere. Try it, its sooo easy.
