    I think that although the pink is the brighter colour, the blue is the strongest and most predominant, and that's where the eye goes first. In the first layout, trying to make sense of the blue is hard work, whereas in the second the pattern is clear, the eye isn't having to hunt for it.

    No idea what the "official" reason is, but that's my thoughts on it. :-)

    Beautiful fabric and layout on either one.

    How wide were the strips (I have not used jelly rolls yet) and what is the size of your block.
