    IMHO, the major difference is not traditional/modern but patterned/unpatterned. If you add a patterning with quilting that contrasts with the maroon, I think the contrast would be less stark/

    Needs an inner border and maybe a non floral for the outer border.Great quilt.....

    I thought if it was less asymmertical it woul be more of drunkard path. Try to make it not repeatative, anyways something to think about.if you like I can send you variation of layout. Good luck

    the more I have looked at this the more in love with it I have become! I am cutting out mine now; all white and batiks. its sure not going to belong up here in the north Idaho mountains! thank you for the inspiration!

    Thank you all for your input. I appreciate all of your comments. I went back to the store and got more maroon fabric. I plan to take off the floral border and put a solid border in between them to separate the wild from the tame. I'll let you know how it turns out!! Thanks again.

    I love this pattern it looks great. But, I agree with Sarah in Brooklyn, the quilt pattern looks more contemporary and the border looks more traditional.
