I was going to say #1, but I actually like #4 better--not just because you need it larger!

The light color is unbleached muslin.

Just to throw a monkey wrench in here , what size are the blocks currently? Can you make the blocks bigger to get to the size you need ?
The blocks are made from 4-inch charm squares and I already have almost half of them done. So the block size is pretty well set. I'm cutting the charms from my scraps and piecing them as a break from some of my other projects. Its a work in progress so it will be a while before I finish this quilt. I'm just at a point where I need to decide which direction I'm going.

I thought about that but in order to make the blocks on the outer border come out even the inner borders need to equal the size of the block.

My vote goes to #3, I like it because it's different. I'm an odd ball, what can I say. ;-)

No 1 - no 2 is 2nd choice. No 3 looks like you ran out of fabric.

I like #1 best, the scrappier the better.

May I ask why you decided to put 5 borders in between the inner piecing and the outer pieced border? And how do you plan on quilting those borders?

I'm a professional quilter so I'm always interested in the quilting part!

Some quilting maven on Alex's old show - the show theme was borders - said borders should not exceed 3/4 of the block size.

I like #1 best because it has a finished look and more balanced
    #2 is also very nice
Your first choice is always what you should go with ..That's what happens with mine ! LOL
