I was going to make a lap quilt out of this, but my Mom saw it & said she'd love to have a bedsize (queen-size) quilt from the same fabrics & pattern. I decided to make more blocks to give it as a gift for their 56th anniversary. Which is on the 26th of this month!! I have almost all the blocks completed & will start putting the rows together either tonight or tomorrow. Below is a picture of two of the blocks. My question is should I do the border in the flower fabric or the dark reddish one? And about the quilting...SID or FMQ meandering?

I'd do the border in the flowered and the binding in the dark red but that's only because I don't like white in my bindings. Either way would work though.

Why not a narrow border of the solid red and then a wider border of the floral?

I would do a smaller red border then a wider flowered one. I would probably meander it.

I would do a border of green, the the floral and then bind with the dark red, but that is just MHO

I would do the border in the floral and bind with dark red. Maybe a stitch in the ditch with a pretty motif is the center of each block.

I totally agree with mdelling on this one then bind with the red. That floral fabric is so pretty you need to be able to see more of it! Maybe a 1" red border then for the outer border do the floral about 5/6". It will be a beautiful quilt!
