@sandraa: The pattern name is "Blooming Nine Patch" and it can be found in the book "Tradition with a Twist" by Blanche Young and Darlene Young Stone. I found the book in digital form at I believe OnlineBookPlace.com for just over $11, but many other places have the hard copy for sale.

June, you wouldn't believe how simple this is! Granted, there is a LOT of cutting, then piecing the 9s was monotonous, but I've only been working on this since last weekend. I work FT, and go to school nights, so that tells you what kind of time I DON'T have...but it's very nearly a 'mindless' pattern so far. The part I'm dreading actually, is this next part: making sure I sew it up correctly:

I saw a grid, iron on type of interfacing that you put the squares on and iron to attach, then you sew the seams. It all stays in one piece. That way it is less confusing with all those squares. I think you can get it at Joann's.

I love Blooming Nine Patch Quilts! Simple construction and wonderful results. I made a king-sized for my DS and DDIL for their wedding gift and enjoyed every minute working on it. With your fabrics, there is good color flow from one fabric to the next. It's going to be gorgeous! Please share a photo when finished.
