    You can put anything in them that will fit through the hole. I've even dumped the stuff out and started over. (My son had convinced me to put in some sand from a beach vacation, but well, it looked like sand. Not very Christmasy.)
    Put smaller pinecones in some. Was a big hit at our Pow Wow trader stand. Had everyone asking HOW they got in there.???... my reply of "stuck the ball over pinecone as it started to grow" really had some going....yup, they actually believed me :roll: ...( "wet" pinecones shrink !!! ... remember using hair blow dryer trying to get last few ones dried & "re-fluffed" so they could be packed. Wish I had pictures but that was wayyyyyyyyy before my computer days :-(

    when I took a quilt class the teacher asked for these, she put them in a jar and called it quilt jelly.
