Painted blocks for Bed Runner
Every now and then My friend, Doxie Keller (Folk Artist) will send me some blocks she has painted for me to put together and quilt.
The blocks are for a Christmas Pattern and the runner will go to convention in May. I thought I would post the process for the beginners who would like to see a tut about sashing.
Here are the blocks she painted. The second pic shows the first sashings. The block is measured across the width and the sashing is cut to that measurement. Then they are added to, one sash between two blocks.
The third pic shows the tape measuring down the length of the blocks for that sashing.

Sashings
The quilt is then measured across the top or middle for the top and bottom sash. After these are sewed on, the quilt is measured for the side sashings. The quilt is folded in half lengthwise and that measurement is taken. I would also measure the sides, just to check the difference.
Here is a pic of the sashing in place. The second pic shows the border which is done the same way as the sashing.
I think I have arrange the blocks the wrong way, oh Lord! I think the blocks should be going the other way, as when you look at the bottom of the bed, the blocks should be right side up. But I will see what Doxie says.
