Paintstiks on Fabric
#25
I, too, have recently used the paintsticks. I obtained the water color ones and after drawing a picture, I used a paintbrush dipped in water to soften the colors and it turned out like a watercolor painting. I then heat set it with an iron and quilted it. I attempted threadpainting to enhance the picture and give it depth and used some beading. I tried to post a picture, but no luck. This is a very relaxing technique and I enjoy it after a LONG day at work.

I have been experimenting with watercolor pencils and Inkense pens...will have to try the paintsticks and rubbings also. Love that look. Do you think you could do that on a gravestone? I am designing a memory quilt of my Dad's family and have planned on photos and fabric, but I wonder what this technique would look like.

Fabulous so far! I've been experimenting too w/fabric paints and acrylics on fabric and throwing it in the microwave for 1 min. exactly to set the paint and then softening the fabric with homemade Mod Podge (just white glue mixed half and half with water). Love using markers on fabric too.
