Default Paris Quilt ... by Aubrey's Quilting Creations

This quilt was a graduation gift for a great friends daughter who just graduated high school yesterday. This was such a fun quilt to be a part of in everyway. She wanted to give her daughter a quilt for graduation and she spent last summer in Europe and has plans to major along the lines of international business or relations and end up overseas for her career. She loved Paris and thus we came up with the idea to make the Effiel Tower a part of her quilt. First we where going to use the brighter more modern colors for the quilt with a black tower as these where her favorite colors but when shopping with her mother for college goods she had mentioned she now wanted a bedding set with deep reds and a french design.............so I jumped on the chance to use these colors as there are so many wonderful fabric lines with the reds and creams with the paris and french patterns. I pieced this quilt and then quilted it all freehand using my longarm machine. Thanks for looking, Aubrey

Great job! I can't imagine the work that went into cutting out the Eiffiel tower. How did do that part? Is it fusible applique, ultra suede or what?

Wow, that is so dramatic, just stunning. The red was just the right backdrop.

I used a light duty/sewable pellon fusible and traced the tower on the paper side then fused it to just a dark brown solid moda fabric and then used a small crafting knife to cut around all the lines. At times I could use a ruler to keep the lines matching but most of them where at slightly different angles. Very easy to do even though it looks difficult.
