OK, I hope these pictures help a bit. As you can see in the original picture, the strips can be any width, any length -- just have fun. I've sometimes cut the sewn together strip into different lengths and even turn strips sideways. The whole idea is to have fun.

    Any questions, let me know.

    Both fabrics right side up.

slice a gentle curve (remember you will be sewing this curve)

match top fabric of 1/2 to bottom fabric of other 1/2

Don't worry about ends, just work the seams together, You'll trim off the top and bottom later.

gently press seam to one side; usually doesn't require any clipping

Pressed and ready to be trimmed to size or used as is.

Cut the strips in half (any sections you want) or leave them longer.

For these gentle curves, simply sew slowly - don't pin -- and use your fingers to keep moving the fabric edges together. This style generally requires that you trim off the ends cause they'll usually not meet.

This is how Alicia Merrett does it too - here's the first of her 3 videos on YouTube - perhaps it will help. :-D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUQ38B0AJMA

Hope you don't mind me chipping in Quiltinvaca :-D
