Really Cute !! :) can applique USA large on top or bottom, or if boarders are 6+ inches may be able to 1/2, to make twice as much as you have now just remember seam allowances.
Just remember what ever you do will work !! Congrats on all the paper piecing. :)

I agree with Eddie....I would take the top border off and replace with the same top and bottom, but I also like the idea of either applique or embroidering somethig patriotic like God Bless America. Beautifull job!

I am so anal, so I tend to agree with Eddie and Daisyboo. I would remove the top border; replace it with a new top and bottom border with embroydery of your choice on both top and bottom. Add one more set of borders like maybe a blue and white star or a red and white stripe. Cut the old top border in quarters and either splice the 1/4 pieces in the middle of the new border or use it for the corners only of that last border. That way you can use the top border that you cut off and you end up with a bigger quilt in the proces. Clear as mud? But I think I'd rather beg, borrow and steel enough to finish it by finding more of the fabric you're using cuz it's so darn cute the way it is. If you can't find it in the stores ask us - someone may have some of that fabric...

Keep your white corner blocks if possible and then use either red or blue strip with words referencing 9-11...quote of your choice. I am new here and it was nice tuning in to review your beautiful piece of work. Really nice!! Diana

Any suggestions?
Some of you asked me what the pattern was and it's from A Galaxy of Stars, Starry Path - Month 6 (block of the month) by Jinny Beyer Palette, Basic Realities 1999.
I shrunk it down to 72% and this was a paper piecing project. I used June Tailor's Foundation Paper and a very small stitch as recommended. However, it was difficult to pull off and I am a little reluctant to do another project with either this foundation paper or paper piecing in general. This block only had 16 pieces so I can only imagine if I were to have done one of the star blocks in a book I have with nearly 142 pieces per block!
This is my own creation so it was a little frustrating not to have the back up of a pattern to follow. It's not fancy, but I just wanted to make something patriotic since the anniversary of 9/11 is approaching. I nearly lost my best friend during this time so I am grateful he made it out of the 2nd tower alive.
What would you put towards the bottom of this quilt?
Any suggestions?
