Lovely job! I agree with Eddie et al. Make the top and bottom borders the same. Perhaps a border of plain red, white and blue lengthwise strips would do the trick.

I really like what you have done so far....maybe you can split the difference with the matching fabric and add red for a middle with a white name sake plate type of thing....with the reason for the quilt....just a thought...good luck in what you choose it will be loved regardless...:-)

If you don't have enough fabric to finish, let us know. I have some patriotic fabric in my stash that I haven't used yet. Several different pieces, perhaps one might fit your needs. You can always pm me if interested. Will be away this a.m. due to a death in the family, but will return this pm.

    Beautiful quilt!

wow, that is beautiful! there is a product out there...disolveable foundation paper...the paper disolves in water after all the stitching. it comes in a paper packet, i think the one i bought was 50 sheets. it runs through the printer fine and disolves well. i actually started doing all my paper piecing on foundation fabric so i don't have to remove it, it just adds a layer to my quilt. but if you do not want heavier quilts the foundation paper that disolves may be the answere for you. i think i picked mine up from clotilde's catalog.

Busy today with life in general, but I think I am going to try to make the bottom border with what I have. I've seen some of these fabrics in WM and Joanns but not all of them. Either way, I will keep the white corners, maybe even keep the blue/white stars that attach to the corners. I will try locally to get what I need, but if I can't find it, I will ask the members. Thanks for offering.

I want to make it bigger so adding borders other than the border you see isn't going to be a issue. More than likely it will end up as a full or queen size. Last night when I worked on it, I must have been really tired because I was slowing down and seemed confused. I worked on it long enough that day so I packed it up and covered it with a bed sheet on my dining room table. We haven't eaten on it since I started this quilt! Really need another room for my machine and stuff. Anyone handy with a hammer and nails?

Will keep you posted and put a pic on when it's done. Thanks for all the feedback.
