I made this quilt in rocognition of my son-in-law's upcoming promotion to Colonel in the army. The pattern is by Jackie Robinson. Her patterns can be found at http://www.animas.com/
The pattern is basically a bunch of prairie points sewn on two inch strips and then pieced together. The stars were a tad more difficult but very satisfying when I finally figured out what to do!!!

WOW! Vonnie, that is impressive! What a great gift and wallhanging. I am sure it will be cherished. Congrats to your SIL.

Congratulations to your son-in-law! Both on his promotion and for marrying into the right family!

I hope he treasures the quilt as much as you obviously do him!

Your quilt is gorgeous and amazing. I have never seen a pattern like this one. What are the dimensions of the quilt? How lond did it take you to complete?

I love that texture! You have really set me off thinking about the possibilities for that technique. It is beautiful.

Danna, the quilt is about 27"X42". It didn't take long to make. I started this about 2-3 weeks ago but I don't spend very many hours in a day sewing.
I will say the directions were, at times, confusing and the illustrations were small. (Someone suggested enlarging the directions. Why didn't I think of that? Ha!) The little white stars are all folded fabrics so there is a lot of three-dimensional stuff going on here.

Moonpi, be sure to check out the above web site. She has a lot of ideas for using those prarie points. What an eye opener. More fun than we knew!

Thank you one and all for the kind words.
I'll be sure to pass the warm words and thoughts along to my SIL.

I'm still working on the label for the quilt. After Leslee's experience I'm making sure to sign my quilts now even more than before. I hope you all are also.

    Happy quilting and labeling!

    Quick update
Son-in-law has received his quilt and was blown away that it was made especially for him! He is very appreciative!

Label I made for the back read
"Hearts beat true for the red, white and blue"
That also pleased SIL. He does have a sentimental side to him that we don't see too often.

Ceremony for promotion is just a few days away. I beat the deadline! Whoopee!!!
