Absolutely lovely! I want to add a very narrow strip border like the purple in your quilt to a project I'm working on. Can you share any tips on how to apply such a narrow strip and keep it even and straight? Thanks!

Twas a UK site Ducksta - she opens it for a week or so now and then, and then closes again, I think she's weighing up whether to go out of business or not! It's called House of Patchwork but it's down at the moment. And I don't remember who made it - maybe Fireworkslover can help? I guess she got hers in the US? Otherwise, if that site comes up again and she still has it, I'll get you some. :D
Woohoo, you folks are lucky! I still have some of the selvage left of the Peacock fabric. It's a Robert Kaufman Ornamentations Screen Print # 6560 You could possibly go to their website at www.robertkaufman.com to see if they still make this. Like I said before I bought this prob. 4 -5 yrs. ago.

If you want to add a narrow border (1/8" -1/4" wide ), I've found a way that works very well. For a 1/4" wide border cut your fabric 1 1/8" wide. Fold in half wrong sides together, press. Pin and sew ontoyour quilt top or another border, with the fold facing towards the center of the quilt and raw edges even. If you're going to be adding another wider border on the outside of this narrow one, you can sew them on all at once. Pin carefully and use a walking foot.

If you're talking about my OBW w/ peacock feather fabric - sorry, it's already taken. It hangs on my son's living room wall.

Here's how I do it, this is a slight variation on the instructions in the One Block Wonder book. I cut 4 strips 7/8" wide, one for each side of the quilt, it's OK to join strips together, they're so skinny. Then you sew the strip to your quilt as you would any border, 1/4" seam and press the seam towards the skinny border, do all four sides the same, opposite sides first. Then when I join the outer border, I line up the left side of my piecing foot (which is 3/8" wide) with the stitching line, this ensures that the skinny stays a straight 3/8" inch wide. Hope this is clear, if not, let me know and I can try to explain better! :-D
